Manchester City has completed the signing of Spanish winger Jesus
Navas from Sevilla in a deal worth an initial £14.9m, potentially
rising to £15.9m over the course of the contract.
Navas has been with Sevilla throughout his career and willbe teaming
up with fellow Spaniard David Silva at the Etihad stadium. He was part
of Spain's successful 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 squads and has been
named in the 23-man party named for the FIFA Confederation Cup.
Navas has made 393 appearances for Sevilla scoring 34 goals and has
won six major trophies; a UEFA Super Cup, Two UEFA Cups, two Copa del
Rey and the Spanish Super Cup over the past nine seasons.
The 27-year-old passed his medical and met with former City midfielder
Claudio Reyna in New York where he was presented with his new colours.
Navas is City's second summersigning after Fernandinho completed his
transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk last week. In a statement released on
the club's website, Navas expressed delights over his new deal.
"Manchester City is an exciting project and this is theright moment
for me to take this step," he said. "I'm very happy with the
opportunity and the decision.
"The Premier League is a competition where the football is very fast
and will suit the way I play. I'm really looking forward to it."
