50 Cent lost his temper in a big way last month, according to prosecutors.
The 37-year-old rapper has been charged with domestic violence and
four counts of vandalism for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend at
her condoin Toluca Lake, Calif.
According to the L.A. City Attorney's Office, police responded to a
call from the residence on June 23 when Fiddy, whose real name is
Curtis Jackson, hadbeen arguing with the alleged victim and started to
take his anger out on her property.
Per the LAPD, his ex locked herself in the bedroom, after which he
kicked down the door and kicked her, causingan unspecified injury.
Authorities allege that the Get Rich or Die Tryin' rapper caused
$7,100 in property damage, with officers observing broken furniture
and chandeliers throughout the condo, a broken TV, a broken lamp and a
ransacked bedroom closet.
50 Cent had already left by the time police arrived. He's due to be
arraigned July 22 in Van Nuys Superior Court and is facing up to five
years in jail and $46,000 in fines if convicted on all five counts.
"Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is
a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the
fullest extentof the law by this office," City AttorneyMike Feuer said
in a statement. "We will continue to look out for the safetyof all
victims of domestic violence andseek justice for the alleged crimes."
The City Attorney's Office says that thewoman, whose identity is not
being released because this is a domestic-violence case, was
previously in a three-year relationship with Fiddy and they have a
child together.
Despite the hard-core rep he built a name on earlier in his rap
career, 50 Cent has stayed out of trouble for some time. His last
run-in with the lawappears to have been a traffic stop in 2006.
A rep for the hip-hop star hasn't yet responded to a request for comment.
